Privacy Policy
BeatRun Pro · Effective October 12, 2026
This policy explains what information the BeatRun Pro app for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android (the “App”), provided by Palirun Labs (“we”), uses and why. The App has no account or sign-in, and we do not sell your personal information.
Android. The Android app works the same way: where this policy says “iPhone”, it also means your Android phone. Differences on Android are noted where they apply (there is no watch app on Android).
1. Information that stays on your device
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Location (GPS), only while a run is active | To measure running speed and distance, estimate your step length and level, and count distance for unlocking songs. Updates stop when the run ends. The route you ran is saved only on your iPhone, so the App can show it on a map with that run; it is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it is deleted when you delete the run or the App. |
| Motion & fitness (pedometer) | To measure your cadence (steps per minute), steps and distance. |
| Running and training records | Date, duration, cadence, pace, step length and workout results, so the App can show your records, calendar and suggestions. |
| Settings and music library | Your playlist, collected songs, theme and other preferences. |
| Calendar (optional) | Only if you turn on “Save runs to Calendar”: the App adds each run as an event (start and end time, workout, records in the notes) to the calendar you choose. It does not send your calendar to us. |
This information is stored on your iPhone (and passed between your iPhone and Apple Watch through Apple’s WatchConnectivity). Location, motion data and your calendar are never sent to us. Running records and your music library are sent to our server only as described in section 2. Deleting the App deletes what is on the device.
2. Information saved to our server (you can turn this off)
From version 2.1, the App can keep your runs and collected music on our server (api.palirun.com, hosted on Cloudflare) so they come back when you reinstall the App or move to a new phone. This is on by default and you can turn it off anytime in the App’s Settings › Server › “Save runs to the server”.
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Bib number and a device key | A random five-digit BeatRun Marathon bib number is assigned to your App, together with a random key created on your phone that proves the number is yours. The server stores only a hash of the key. There is no name, email or sign-in. |
| Running and training records | For each run: date and time, duration, workout type, cadence, pace, step length, distance, steps and similar results. Routes and locations are never included — the route you ran stays on your iPhone. Only runs made after this feature starts on your device are uploaded. |
| App state | Collected songs and playlist, distance toward the next song, your cadence, step length and level, and training progress — so the App can restore them. |
The server does not store your raw IP address (a salted hash is kept briefly to limit abuse). We do not sell this information or use it for advertising. In the future the bib number may be shown as your display name in rankings; your records are not shown to others unless we add such a feature and tell you first.
Turning it off and deleting. When you turn off “Save runs to the server”, the App deletes your running records and app state from the server right away; your bib number is kept so it stays yours. To delete your bib number and everything linked to it, email us at [email protected] with your bib number.
3. Information collected by third-party services
Google Firebase (Analytics, Remote Config). To understand how the App is used and to keep it working, Firebase collects usage events (for example, a run started or a song unlocked), app version, device model, OS version, an app instance ID and approximate region derived from your IP address. This information is not linked to your identity. Firebase privacy
Google AdMob (advertising). After you have collected a number of songs, the App shows a banner ad. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA, only if you allow tracking), IP address and coarse location, and ad interaction and diagnostic data to show and measure ads. How Google uses information from apps that use its services
Music downloads. New songs are downloaded from our server on Cloudflare (music.palirun.com). As with any web request, the server receives your IP address and basic request information, used only to deliver the files.
4. Tracking and your choices
- App Tracking Transparency: the App asks once whether it may track. If you decline, the advertising identifier is not used and you see non-personalized ads. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and certain US states): where required by law, the App shows a Google consent message before ads are requested. You can change your choice in the App’s Settings › Ad privacy settings.
- Location and motion: you can turn these off in iOS Settings › BeatRun Pro. The App still plays music; without location it uses the pedometer for distance.
- On Android: there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt; ads use the Android advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in Android Settings › Privacy › Ads. Location and physical-activity permissions are in Android Settings › Apps › BeatRun Pro › Permissions. Your bib number and its key are kept with Android’s Google backup, if you have it turned on, so they can return on a new phone. The route map and trace map are drawn on Google Maps: to show the map, the app asks Google for the map of the area on screen. The route itself stays on your phone and is not sent to us.
5. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
6. Retention and deletion
On-device data remains until you delete the App. Data on our server is kept until you turn off “Save runs to the server” (which deletes your records and app state) or ask us to delete your bib number. Data held by Google is kept under Google’s retention policies; Google Analytics event data is kept for the retention period set for the App (no longer than 14 months).
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page with its effective date.
